Gretel

Here's my Gretel hat.  It had just come off the plate I was blocking it on.  It's Malabrigo Worsted in the Mineral Red colorway.  It was a fun knit with all the cables.  I have one skein left that may become mittens for next year.  The hat will be put away with the 5th Ave Infinity Scarf for next winter and hopefully the mittens will be knit in the fall.

Lunch knitting is now Caireen and I manage 2 -3 rows during my hour lunch depending if there is a cable row that day.  Hopefully, it will be done by the end of March, that is the goal if not a few days sooner.

I have about 6 rows left of Theodora the mystery shawl and hope to bind off on Tuesday night.  Wednesday night starts the new knit a long for Criminal Minds.

The Silk Diamond Scarf will be picked up again.  As of right now, I have Friday off from work and I plan to visit the YS to get the project back on track.  Even if I just do one Diamond a week among other projects, it will eventually get done.

I want to start a sweater and a pair of socks and will probably do that as soon as Caireen is done.  Not sure what sweater but I know the socks will probably be the Jelly Bean socks from a Green Mountain Spinnery Book that have been wound up and waiting for awhile now.

I would like to take a shawl break but I just keep adding them to my queue and favorites on Ravelry.  Hopefully, starting a sweater and socks will keep me from adding a new shawl to the needles.

Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday topic for 2/22 is Ten Favorite Cocktails/Mocktails.

I don't drink anymore so this one will be a tough one.  But, I will go into my past and then just list other things I like to drink.

In my younger days (drinking age was 18 when I turned 18), I liked these:

1)  Sloe Gin Fizz - always drank these out at the bars.  First drink I ever had, I think.
2)  Tom Collins
3)  Rum and Coke

4)  Gin and Tonic

That's it.  Was never a big drinker.   The flowers above were given to a co-worker one year for Administrative Assistants day, they were so cute.

Cabled Keyhole Scarf #4

Here's another Cabled Keyhole Scarf by Anne Hanson of Knitspot.  I have yarn for one more but will wait awhile to knit that one up.

Gretel is finished and blocking on a dinner plate.  Not sure what lunch knitting will be, I have tomorrow off to figure that out.  Still working on the Theodora shawl and am on the lace but have a ways to go.  Still haven't touched Caireen, not sure if I will frog or not.  Have all my yarn ready for the next mystery knitalong that starts on March 2nd.

Went shopping again with my sister yesterday.  We went to a shop in Ellington that I'd never heard off.  I got a skein for my mystery knitalong and a skein of sock yarn that was on sale along with a bunch of patterns.  Then we headed to Webs as I wanted a skein of yarn for a pair of socks in Knitty.  Ends up my sister had a single skein of the yarn so she gave me hers.  I did end up buying 4 skeins of Valley Yarn, a bulky one that will become a Susanna IC shawl.  Plus, some gray yarn that I love but don't know what it will be.  Most likely a scarf but I may wait awhile to see what Knitspot comes up with as I may want to do one of hers with it.

Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday Topic for 2/15 is 10 Favorite Non-Knitting Blogs.

Hmm, I don't read too many non-knitting but I will search out what I have saved in favorites or in the blog readers.  Only 5, guess I will find some more by reading what others look at.

1)  101 Cookbooks - http://www.101cookbooks.com/ - The Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookies look Yummy!
2)  The Cozy Chicks - http://www.cozychicksblog.com/   A group of mystery writers including Maggie Sefton which is how I found them.  Have read a few other authors after reading about them.

3)  Yoga in the Snow - http://truenorthyogini.blogspot.com/  Ok, I read through her profile and she also knits so this probably shouldn't count but the blog is mostly about Yoga.

4)  Yoga Dork - http://www.yogadork.com/

5)  Debbie Macomber - http://blog.debbiemacomber.com/  Ok, she also knits but I read her books and not all of them are about knitting.

5th Avenue Infinity Scarf

This is my 5th Avenue Infinity Scarf by Margaux Hufnagel.  It's really just one of those long cowls.  I used Malabrigo worsted in the Mineral Red colorway.  My lunch knitting is the Gretel Hat out of the same yarn.  I didn't get that much knitting done at work this week but hope to finish it by next weekend.  I may make matching mittens but I don't know yet.

At home, I am still plugging away on Theodora - the Criminal Minds mini knitalong kerchief.  I am onto the lace and I can read that so it is coming along nicely.  Once as Gretel or Theodora are done I am going back to Caireen.  That should be able to become work knitting so I should be able to get a row at least done at lunch every day.

Next up for a small project will be the next Criminal Minds knit a long which will be colorwork.  I think it is a cowl and mitts.  I took out my yarn today and just need to buy the pattern.  I still haven't cast on any socks so that will be next, too.  I also plan to dig back out my Silk Diamond Scarf from one of the Simply Shetland books.  I took a class a few years ago and never got going on it.  I thought about ripping it out but I like the colors I have so I want to work on that.

Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday Topic for Tuesday, Feb 8 is 10 Favorite Oscar Winning Movies.  I usually don't go to movies at the theater.  The last time was a couple of years ago.  I tend to rent or wait till they get on TV.  So for this, I went online and looked up past winners and was surprised that I actually had seen more winners than I thought I had.  Not sure if they are necessarily favorites.

1)  The Sound of Music - ok this one is a favorite and I watch parts of it every time it's on.  I have relatives in VT and when my Aunt and Uncle were alive and I went to visit them, I always went to the Trapp Family lodge just to look around and visit the gift shop.
2)  Rocky - this is about the only one I can watch, the rest of the Rocky series just don't interest me.
3)  Gone With The Wind - finally saw this all the way through probably in my 20's or 30's.
4)  Rain Main
5)  American Beauty
6)  Dances With Wolves
7)  The Lord of the Rings, Return of the King - Viggo Mortensen - cute!
8)  West Side Story
9)  The Silence of the Lambs - still creeps me out and I won't watch it when it's on.
10)  Forrest Gump

Two Cabled Keyhole Scarf FO's

Two Cabled Keyhole Scarfs, pattern by Knitspot.  Top one is Rowan Tapestry, bottom is Malabrigo Silky Merino.  One more is on the needles and is my lunch knitting.  I think I am about half done.

Caireen hasn't been touched since last time.  I have been working on Gretel and then on Wednesday, I started the Criminal Minds Theodora mystery shawl knitalong.  I hope to finish clue one today or at least get close to finishing. There are different instructions for 2 types of yarns.  Mine is coming out smaller so I am unsure if I'm going to follow the instructions for the other yarn or just knit more of clue 2.  I like the way it looks so that is great.

Yesterday, my sister and I hit a super bowl sale.  I bought a skein of Malabrio sock in Velvet Grapes and a skein of Dream in Color Smooshy in a pinky/purple color.  I love both but have no idea what I am going to make out of them.  Then we hit another store that wasn't having a sale and I was wandering around and passed a single skein of Pagewood Farm lace, 1375 yards, I loved it on at first sight.  I couldn't leave it there.  I searched Ravelry last night and think it will become a Knitspot stole which I will probably wear as a scarf.

I hope to get lots of knitting done today during the Super Bowl.  I am curious to see how the Black Eyed Peas handle the half time show.  I'm hoping it will be good.

Ten on Tuesday

The Ten on Tuesday Topic for 2/1 is 10 Things On Your Nightstand/Bedside Table.

I did most by memory and then went to double check.

1)  Lamp
2)  Clock Radio
3)  Flashlights - two of them, one may need batteries
4)  Box of Kleenex
5)  Eye Mask (two of them) and Ear Plugs (window is leaking right now and drip, drip is driving me crazy)
6)  Mouthgard (I grind my teeth)
7)  Vicks Vapor Rub
8)  Eyeglass Case
9)  Tealight Candle in a Stone Base - was a gift from an old boss, made in Pakistan - shown above.
10)  Giraffe - stuffed standing giraffe
Home early from work today, I didn't feel well and it was getting icy so decided a half day was enough and came home.  I've been sick on and off since right before New Year's Eve and I want it all to just go away(cough, sneeze, stuffed nose, sinus, stomach over and over).  It's February though, Sring and all the Sheep festivals are getting closer and closer.
